Hello World!!

This Hello World EP marks the beginning of The Gary Randman Project—the moment a lifetime of songwriting moves from something largely private into music shared with listeners around the world.

The title comes from a computer programming tradition: one of the first programs written when learning a new computer language simply displays the words “Hello World.” For Gary Randman, who spent decades building a career in software development while writing songs alongside it, those words became the perfect metaphor for launching his music project.

The EP brings those two creative worlds together. The computer and piano represent different tools built around the same fundamental process: an idea, a keyboard, a creator, and a blank canvas. On the screen, the application The Gary Randman Project asks the creator to “Play notes and press Enter.” The piano becomes the keyboard, the notes become the input, and the resulting music becomes the output: Hello World.

But the title also represents something more personal—the vulnerability and excitement of introducing yourself creatively to people you have never met and saying, This is who I am. These are the stories I want to share.

There is also a quiet personal connection within the artwork. The workspace is inspired by furniture belonging to Gary’s late son, Josh, who spent time at his computer nearby while Gary wrote music in their basement. Josh’s presence continues throughout the project, including the waveform logo created from a recording of his voice.

Hello World is therefore both an introduction and a beginning: the first collection of professionally recorded songs from a lifelong songwriter, and the opening of a conversation Gary hopes will continue through memorable melodies, meaningful stories, and authentic human connection.
